Wonderful city, lots to see and do. GET HYPOGEUM TICKETS WAY IN ADVANCE. Didn’t read about this site until just before my trip. Too late, they book up fast. But. If you’re seeing more of Malta/Gozo, there are many great neolothic and Roman ruins. I recommend the food tour I found on booking and St. John’s Cathedral and the Grand Master Palace. Could have used a couple more days to see Sliema and Fort San Angelo and other places.

You need to walk around Valletta to really appreciate it before you perhaps venture into another town which of course is also worth doing BUT do take the public transport. The buses are plentiful and cheap. There's plenty of organized trips too if that's your thing but make sure you know what you're getting before you commit!
It is a lovely town with absolutely loads to do and see both on land (walking, exploring) and on sea (exploring, swimming, fishing)
The history of course is worth delving into and the various museums are superb!

Beautiful city, with many historic and religious sites.
Beautiful city, with many historic and religious sites. The people are very friendly, helpful and polite. It is easy to travel around Malta with an excellent bus service and water taxi service all at a very reasonable prices. Everyone speaks English. The city is full of restaurants with a few in the Michelin guide, I think the food and drinks generally are very fairly priced and food everywhere we ate (and we ate out at least once every day and never ate in the same place twice) were very good. I used the booking.com site to book our taxi from and to the airport which was so easy to do and the drivers were very friendly, helpful and arrived on time. We had a lovely stay, it’s a city worth visiting.

Plenty handy places for breakfast-we particularly liked The Museum cafe-about 200 metres away from Battery house. There are lots of Italian restaurants close by for lunch/evenings,
The city is easy to navigate on foot and there are several ferries available
to outlying areas and Gozo.
Battery house is just a few minutes walk to the main bus station for travel
to all parts of Malta.

The old town and harbour are beautiful and full of character. It is very easy and cheap to use the local busses to get around,€2 flat fee and the ticket lasts for 2 hours. We stayed next to Merchants Street, well worth a visit with the food market and lots of great restaurants and cafes. There is so much choice of eating places and all very reasonably priced. We took the fast ferry over to Gozo for the day, a 45 minute ride which costs €6 each for a return journey.A good place to start a visit is the Malta Experience by Fort St Elmo. It tells the history of Malta which we found fascinating and you also get to visit the old hospital that was established by the knights of St John.

If you decide to stay inn this hotel....choose ONLY FULL SEA VIEW ROOM. Do not settle for anything less. Its SPECTACULAR.
The Location is the other thing that makes it a complete winner. Walking distance from Valletta City Centre, Bus Stands, Taxi Stands, Old City and all the landmark monuments.
Our room was big and spacious.
The location was perfect for exploring Valletta. Close to the city centre, ferry and bus terminals and great restaurants. Spacious and relaxing. The view was amazing. Surprisingly quiet. Space to unpack and spread out, hang up clothes and generally it was the perfect base for our 4 day introduction to Malta.
Location excellent beside city centre , breakfast was lovely plenty on offer , hotel is spotless a beautiful building beautifully and sympathetically restored, the staff are superb cheerful helpful and professional , really enjoyed our stay
