Offering a rooftop terrace with pool, The Victoria Hotel - AX Hotels is a 4-star boutique hotel in Sliema center, 0.6 mi from the Point Shopping Mall and just a 5-minute walk from the seaside...

Good value: room was bigger than we expected, good breakfast with lots of options and some variety from day to day, the rooftop for sunbathing and the indoor pool and sauna - though those were a bit busy at the end of the day. Room service was quick and good value, and there were lots of other restaurants options within the hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Sliema

A Sassy and Lively City In The Heart of Malta

Scenic and energetic, Sliema is perched on the limestone banks of the Mediterranean Sea in the historic and charming island of Malta. It is a perfect coastal holiday destination and ideal base to discover the Maltese Islands.

A short drive from Sliema, Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal offers direct services to Comino and Gozo, which are great for sightseeing, diving, swimming and the unique boat trip around Blue Lagoon.

Discover Malta, from the marvellous Tarxien Temples, to the traditional and colourful boats and fusions of freshly cooked seafood in Marsaxlokk. Afterwards head to Malta's gems, Mdina and Rabat, then around to the belt of Malta, Valletta which features baroque architecture, historic museums and magnificent views from Fort St Elmo over, and beyond Valletta Harbour.

Sliema and St Julian’s narrow streets are lined with numerous high-rise hotels, shops, restaurants and cafés, whilst the pumping beats of Paceville’s nightclubs and bars offer a lively nightlife, which often turns into sunrise.

Booking.com offers accommodation across Malta and Gozo and around popular landmarks such as the National Museum of Archaeology and the glittering waterfronts of Spinola Bay and Ghadira Bay.

Sliema has changed over the years and can be busy with building work. If you take the time and go back a few streets to the old Sliema there are so many beautiful little places. The Maltese people are so kind and helpful

Vibrant waterfront area with great views of Valetta.

Vibrant waterfront area with great views of Valetta. Plentiful shops and restaurants. Clean with little litter. Short ferry ride to Valetta and boat trips to Gozo. Frequent buses to northern half of Malta and to southern half via Valetta. Buses are cheap but very busy with frequent stops so journey times are long but still the best way to travel.

SLEIMA was a central place, from where we set out to travel throughout Malta, including the island of Gozo. There are many restaurants in Sleima, we did not visit the beaches to swim, we have many of them in Israel. We visited the bays, enjoyed the history, architecture, museums and archaeological sites

'Tourist Sliema' is generally limited to both sides of very busy Strand road and waterside promenade. Great proximity for the ferry to Valletta and harbour cruises and swimming cruises to Gozo. To get to Gozo itself for touring you need to cross to Valletta and catch the ferry from Grand Harbour. Lots of modern buses to the various tourist destinations. There are massive building projects throughout Malta and the quality of the frontage footpaths is not considered til building completion. Sliema is no exception and rough concrete footpaths predominate throughout. Plenty of restaurants and bars, long happy hours and good quality food in most of the restaurants with multiple cuisines available. Very busy when we went (Early April) - suspect even busier in the summer months. Probably a place for the younger generation rather than the older to which Valletta is more suited.

We originally considered Valetta but changed after further investigation and so glad we did. The Waterfront was an excellent choice of hotel with plenty of attractions nearby. Good to have long flat promenade to walk along. Easy to visit Valetta by bus or ferry.

Lovely hotel, rooms were spacious and thoroughly cleaned daily. Nice, friendly staff. Great choice for breakfast. We went in January so didn’t use the rooftop pool but it looked fabulous. We had half board which was served in their sister hotel The Palace. Lovely dining room, food was good. Great location, easy access to bus routes via short walk into Sliema. Would definitely recommend.
