About this property
The Cozy Chalet in Gallatin Range -Warm and Inviting Mountain Chalet
Please review several helpful items and FAQ at the end of this description
This property was the model for the Firelight Meadows Chalets. It is a beautifully decorated corner unit that has large windows with natural light and views. This chalet has a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with a queen and a twin, and a first-floor bedroom. The third bedroom has a queen bed and can be closed off as a master suite. There are a total of three full baths. Each room has a TV and there is Direct TV as well as Wi-Fi and high-speed internet. There is a hot tub on the back patio. Stacked firewood is in the garage for use in the wood burning stone fireplace.
This chalet is along Ousel Falls Road. It is a quiet location and just down the street from the rapidly growing town center with great restaurants, shops, and a movie theater. The golf course and the meadow community are very close as well and offer activities year-round. The mountain community is 15 minutes by car or shuttle. There is a shuttle schedule which can be accessed online. There is a walking trail right across the street that takes you up to the Ousel Falls trailhead and down all the way to the canyon highway.
Big Sky is one of the largest ski areas in the country and offers something for everyone. Winter activities include world famous skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. Fun family night excursions can include a trip up the mountain to a cozy cabin for dinner and music, or sleigh rides at Lone Mountain ranch just two miles up the road. Summer is also a great season to visit. You can find an abundant amount of hiking trails in the area as well as around Bozeman and along the Canyon Drive. Other activities include kayaking, mountain biking, river rafting, golfing and zip lining. We are only 40 miles from the West Yellowstone Park entrance. There are many great drives thru the park and around the local area.
Most traveler’s fly into Bozeman. Shuttle service is available from the airport and shuttle services are provided throughout Big Sky. However, a vehicle is recommended. Having your own transportation gives you the ability to explore along the Canyon Drive and get you to Yellowstone Park.
We know there are many wonderful places to stay in Big Sky as well as along the canyon highway. We have been very comfortable in our Big Sky retreat and if you decide to spend a few days at the chalet it will be comfortable for you as well, and we will work with you to make it a great experience.
We provide a lot more information about the area in our welcome package if you are inclined to stay at the chalet. We do go thru the VRBO site exclusively for bookings and payments. The site should list the going nightly rates. Please be aware that acceptance includes the terms outlined in the rental agreement.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
Breakdown of cost:
The fee breakdown includes the nightly rates, a cleaning fee, taxes collected by VRBO, and a service charge collected by VRBO. The Cleaning fee is dependent upon market demand. There is also a refundable damage deposit listed under the damage section.
Transportation:
Having your own vehicle is preferable. The big sky area has had a significant increase in traffic and there has been issues with finding overnight parking. There is parking for the ski slopes with free shuttle service. During the holidays though the parking lots fill quickly. From the chalet it is about a 15-minute drive to the mountain village.
Shuttle service:
go to skylinebus.com for all schedules. Skyline provides transportation from Bozeman to Big Sky and down the canyon (191). Big sky connect is a relatively new service that kind of works like uber. It is free and currently only operates thru an app. You can download this app from the apple store or android store. This service was started in the 2023 season. The bus stop just outside our chalet no longer has a stop to the mountain top. Start your trip by going to big sky connect and the driver will pick you up at the chalet and drop you at the town center and from there the trip is about 15-20 minutes to the top. After you ski day load the direct bus to the town center and then on your app connect to big sky connect. buses usually run on the hour but best to take a photo of the canyon to mountain and mountain to canyon for times. your stops are mountain village and town center.
Rentals:
There are a lot more skiers on the mountain since Big Sky has accepted the IKON pass. The mountain is big enough to accommodate but you should book your rentals in advance as well as any lessons or ski school or day care. The area has run out of rentals on busy days.
Dining:
Same goes for dining. Should be booked in advance if there are particular restaurants you wish to go to.
Garbage disposal: There is a trash compacter you may want to use if your stay is long. Just take Candlelight Meadow Drive across starlight heading towards the condos and then turn right. You will see a maintenance building and there is a trash compacter in the back lot. Garbage can be bagged and left in the garage for cleaning crew to remove upon departure
Parking availability has been an issue. We have a parking pass inside and a second pass. You can place these on your dash during your stay and return them. there is the driveway for one vehicle. street parking is not allowed. There are other parking sites but they do fill up later at night. This has been an issue for some of our guests that have two or three vehicles. Unfortunately that is out of our control and you may realize the parking in many busy ski resorts always an issue
The chalet is equipped with many family friendly features. There are games, pack n play, high chairs and any equipment in site is free to be used
Finally we have tried to make your experience fun. Unexpected events may happen so please call Sarah or Robert. I have family in the area and our neighbor next door as well as a property manager should something unexpected happen requiring attention

10 out of 10 ExcellentWe had a wonderful stay! The chalet was beautiful and close to everything you would need. Short drive to the mountain to ski and a few minutes to restaurants and a small grocery store. We will definitely be back!
