A wonderful place – a multitude of attractions from famous landmarks to getting lost in the atmospheric Trastevere. It is worth walking a lot and getting lost in the streets, and buying tickets for attractions online to skip the lines and have a framework for walks.

Absolutely phenomenal city - just imagine that some of the anceint buildind you can see there are 2000 years old and some of the objects - even older, like the obelisk on the Plazza of Poppolo - was created 1300BC!!!
Lots of museums, tours, places to eat some good pasta and pizza, cheap public transport (24EUR for 7 days of unlimited rides in subway/ buses etc); reasonable priced museum tickets. In most of the restaurants there is no siesta or even coperto.
There are some drawbacks - the city is not very clean, it is mostly fault of the people thou; also people are driving like crazy there - beware of passing the pedetrian crossing!!!

We had a delightful 2.5 day stay in Rome.
We had a delightful 2.5 day stay in Rome. My favorite part of the trip was the Palatine Hill and the Trevi Fountain at night. We sadly did not budget enough time at the Hill. When ticketing you receive an entry time for the Colosseum and we chose a short window in the garden not realizing how extensive they are and they will not allow a return after touring the Colosseum. We also visited the Vatican which I am sad to say was not my favorite place. Rome was a very easy city to get around in. Most of the tourist areas we visited felt very safe. Our hotel was across the street from the Rome Termini which is an ideal location for easy travel access, but note that just a block away was a large population of homeless. We were never concerned for our safety but some might be concerned. We booked our hotel through Bookings.com and had a great experience. We used Grayline for a Hop on Hop Off tour. I am not sure we would choose them again.

We arrived early Friday morning, left Monday midday.
We arrived early Friday morning, left Monday midday. More than enough time to see all the sights (however we are young, fit and quick walkers so you may need longer is you’re slower on your feet!). We stayed in a wonderful area, at the Le Chiavi de Roma, which was full of very authentic and friendly restaurants, shops and gelato bars. As long as you get away from tourist attractions when you want to eat or drink or spend any money, then you’ll love it! It’s incredible and very easy to get around on the metro and on foot. We did get pickpocketed on day one though so be very cautious!! We were very cautious (locks on all bags) but they got into the one bag without one on! Definitely worth trying Cremilla gelato near Vatican City, Donna Cira-Prati was also incredible. Their pizza is infamous and their pasta is amazing. We ended up sharing a pizza and having pasta each as well! We were also on a tight budget and it cost €5.70 for two per way from the airport, and managed to spend less than €200 on everything then entire weekend!! Authentic places, away from the tourists as very cheap.

Rome has an abundance of places of interest, so many so that it's impossible to see them in even four days. The area has such rich history, art and archeological significance. Take the time to really learn about them.
However, Rome also has some of the worst tourist traps and horrendous crowds, even in winter. Avoid the obvious overrated places, such as the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Do visit the Colosseum in a guided tour - you'll learn more and see underground aspects that you can't get to as an individual visitor. Do visit the Trastevere neighborhood for great local food. Do take a guided e-bicycle tour from Top Bike rentals to outside the city from the Colosseum, up the Appian Way and to the ancient aqueducts - worth the history, sights and moderate exercise.

DIRTY CITY, many street people who are selling SHITY thinngs, they are really annoying, garbage everywhere, smell.....
Italians see that you are foreigner, they give you another price for the same coffee like Italian in front of you.....just really bad.....
But i found nice places where to eat, drink coffee at the same prices, nice people....not everything was bad, just prepare for the things that i wrote

Perfect location in what was our first visit Rome and has now become a firm favourite area we would stay in time and time again. Staff were courteous and kind, really polite, and lots of nice little touches to make our stay lovely. The daily happy hour 6-8 was a huge bonus! The breakfast was the best we had in Italy, even with no onsite kitchen fresh scrambled egg and fresh fruit and coffee (just my choice, many other options) was delicious.
The service was excellent; actually Next level. Not just the hotel welcome & what it had to offer, but assistance with our next venture in Italy. It really helps sell Rome (even when 38 degrees🥵)when you have staff like this at Viminale. If we ever go back to Rome, it’ll be staying here purely for the service we received.
Fantastic location, super friendly staff and the place has a very Italy/Boutique vibe to it. It's small, but so are most hotels in Rome. We've stayed in a few different places in Rome, and this was our favorite. It's also close to Termini without being TOO close, which gets a little grimy.
Hotel Maximus in Rome was one of the best hotels in Italy we stayed in.
The location was central and very clean. The breakfast was brilliant. Lots of variety. The staff could not have been more helpful and very polite. 10/10.
Best Hotel during our trip true Italy.
Very kind and helpful receptionist. Clean and comfortable room. Amazing rooftop terrace!
Top breakfast!! We will be back soon to Rome and only in that Hotel. Grazie
